The state has issued more than 6,500 business licenses<sup>1<\/sup>. This is due to the barriers to entry for cannabis entrepreneurs being much lower compared to other states. One common barrier to entry for any entrepreneur is the initial cost of security implementation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oklahoman legislators were vague in their description for physical security requirements: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ok.gov\/health2\/documents\/310-681%20Permanent%20Medical%20Marijuana%20Packet.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"832\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/www.klsecurity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Title-310.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.klsecurity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Title-310.jpg 832w, https:\/\/www.klsecurity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Title-310-300x87.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.klsecurity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Title-310-768x222.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 832px) 100vw, 832px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This may seem preferable to a business owner, but\nthe opposite may be true. Without guidance in regards to security\nimplementation, a business may face unexpected costs down the line: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>If the regulatory agency (Oklahoma Medicinal Marijuana Authority, in this case) does not approve a proposed security plan within an application, the applicant will need to revise and supplement the plan. &nbsp;This will affect deadlines and possible construction timelines. <\/li><li>When cannabis is eventually legalized at the federal level, stricter regulations will be established. A business would incur profit losses from closure to modify the building to meet these standards as well as the cost of the security products themselves.<\/li><li>In the worst-case scenario, criminals have assailed your business. They were able to obtain product, cash, and in the process have seriously injured your employees and\/or customers.
